During times like these when humans are struggling for their lives, brawling to get oxygen and medicines so that they can survive this pandemic. Often in their misery, they forget their most trusted companion. Animals are known to support and love their humans even during bad times. Our furry friends don’t ask for that much they just want to be loved and co-exist. This pandemic did not just take a toll on human lives but also affected animals and their surroundings. Stray animals like dogs, cats, pigs, monkeys, etc earlier used to depend on waste and leftover food from restaurants or wedding functions. Due to COVID19 and it’s continued spreading, India’s Govt decided to impose lockdown in affected areas. This led to the shutting down of restaurants and other businesses, weddings, and other celebratory functions were also prohibited due to large gatherings of people. This action directly affected stray animals as they depend on food and shelter around these areas. Due to covid people also started neglecting animals because of their fear of getting infected in return. Thankfully, some people care about our big little furry friends. Many non-profit organizations are feeding these animals and providing shelters to the needy ones. In Haryana’s Karnal, some people are feeding and helping the strays in need. One of those people is Daljeet Sahi, who is running this non-profit Animal Rescue Service called “Voice for Voiceless” in Karnal. Through her Instagram account @voice_for_voiceless1313, she has been informing and inspiring her followers to care for and feed animals in need. Whenever she hears about a sick dog or cat she rushes to rescue it.

She also urges people to adopt stray dogs or cats in need.

“These are voiceless pure souled children, they demand nothing but love from us,” she said in one of her videos. She calls them ‘Bache’ lovingly in all her videos. Whenever someone comes to adopt a rescued furry animal from her she praises them for giving a family to a needy ‘bacha’.

There are some other people who are also feeding animals in need but many stray animals are still being neglected all over the country.
